MEET THE DISTRICT I LEGISLATIVE STAFF

It can be hard to define, but when you see it, you know. What makes a great leader is the union of the leader and the sup port team. The District I Representatives office is a great team where they are all proud of the accomplishments of one another and support each other. When Carolyn Beaulieu was first elected to the office of District I Representative, she took time to hand pick her team and the payoff is a team who all work together to support the Band members of District I.
Raenelle Weyaus is the Community Center Administrative Coordinator. This position requires a lot of interaction with the community which is why it is a perfect fit for Weyaus. With her previous experiences as a blackjack dealer, Dual Rate, and an instructor, she is ready for whatever tasks are put in front of her. What she is looking forward to the most in her new role is working with the community, she said.
"I have lived here on the Reservation all my life. I grew up right where the casino, market, and theater all stand to this day," Weyaus said. "My class was the first class to graduate from the new Nay Ah Shing School in 1994."
A few years after graduation she married Jereck in 1999, "just before my father, the late District Rep. Myron Garbow passed away. I’ve been married for 25 years. We have three kids and two amazing grandkids."
In her spare time, you may find Weyaus playing bingo, trying new food, taking her babies on adventures, or dancing jingle dress. She can also neither confirm nor deny that she is part of the Glizzy Gang.
Representative Beaulieu also hand picked Ogimawabikwe, Coleen Lueck to be her District I Assistant. Having known her most of her life, Beaulieu said she is a trusted and respected Elder in the community which is just what is needed.
Leuck is a high school graduate with some college in her background. She is proud to call the District I community her hometown and even more proud of her family which includes six children, 10 grandchildren, five sisters, and two brothers.
She is most looking forward to "helping and supporting my District I community members," she said.
When she is not working, you can find her sewing blankets, moccasins, and beadwork, going to ceremonial dances in all districts, playing bingo, and being with family.
“With the experience and enthusiasm they bring, I feel I made the right choice selecting these two ladies to help me fulfill my duties and responsibilities as the District I Representative,” Beaulieu said.
