BEAULIEU WINS THE RACE FOR DISTRICT I REPRESENTATIVE

The official certified results for the June 11 Mille Lacs Band Tribal election posted a win for Carolyn Beaulieu emerging as the newly elected District I Representative. With a 24-vote lead, Beaulieu picked up 227 votes at 52.79 percent compared to 203 votes at 47.21 percent for opponent Valerie Harrington-Wind.

Three Nay Ah Shing School Board positions were also on the ballot, two of them unopposed. For chairperson, Leann Sue Benjamin won with 228 votes, at 59.69 percent compared to 154 votes at 40.31 percent for Kimberly Jayne Kegg.

In District I voting, Semira Marie Kimpson was unopposed and received 267 votes. In District II, Sami Thomas also was unopposed and received 22 votes.

A total of 478 ballots were cast.

Virgil Wind won the seat of Chief Executive with 67 percent of the vote in the April primary election.

Swearing-in ceremonies and celebration will be held at the 2024 Inauguration Celebration to be held at Grand Casino Mille Lacs on July 9 at 10 a.m. All Mille Lacs Band employees and Tribal members are invited to attend the ceremony to celebrate the incoming leadership and honor the outgoing Chief Executive Melanie Benjamin.
